Teach Us

We’re working hard to research LGBTQIA+ history in East Tennessee, but there is so much that cannot be found in newspapers or historical documents – things that were never written down or published and maybe only lives in the stories we tell. We want to know about the people, places, and events that were impactful or special to you. If there is anything you want to make sure is documented and shared, please connect with us either by email at or at our Facebook page

Study with Us

We’re always very excited to work with students and offer many ways for students to participate in the project by exploring their own interests. Students have previously helped by representing the project at events, archiving social media and websites, scanning documents & photos, transcribing oral history interviews, serving as a liaison to LGBTQ+ organizations, doing research on East TN LGBTQ+ history, creating digital projects like timelines, storytelling, podcasts, maps, etc., collecting present-day LGBTQ+ newspaper articles, flyers, posters, photos, etc., conducting inventory of collections, sharing about the project within their networks, creating exhibits, posters, brochures, flyers, etc. Have other ideas? Let us know! Students interested in gaining course credit should contact Donna Braquet directly at
